Cool decorating ideas for the walls of the abode

Folks are always looking for hot and unusual ways to fashion their bodies and decorate their abodes. Homes are extensions of the personalities and fashions of their owners. Abodes should represent individuality in its décor making a lasting impression on all who visit.

The walls of our homes are like a canvas.

View the wall as if you are an artist creating a masterpiece. When contemplating the wall décor, whether you like traditional, contemporary, or somewhere in the middle (known as transitional in the design world), step back and take in the entire room. Decorate the wall to complement the room and furnishings.

It is time to think outside of the box; what do you enjoy or collect?

  • A wall in a girls’ room can be adorned with fun pocket books.

  • A foyer can be cool with antique hats hanging on hooks on the wall.
  • If you collect vintage clothing; evening gowns, coats, dresses, etc. hang them on decorative hangers on the wall.
  • Antique and classic shoes displayed on shelves can look cool.
  • Hang silk scarves draped on hooks or stretched on canvas stretchers and hung on wall.
  • Artistic jewelry looks pretty on a wall hook.
  • Do a wall of ceiling medallions; this adds relief and will fill up a wall with interest.

  • Collect antique mirrors for a traditional look

  • Plain and simple framed mirrors for a clean contemporary look.
  • Circular mirrors hung on the wall can soften a look and lend some fun like bubbles being blown.

A hot trend is wall art crafted from old gears and repurposing tools, clocks, and equipment.

  • Why not be creative and try to make your own. Have fun looking for materials that can be recycled into your work of art.

You can always do a wall of chalkboard paint and have your guests and household members express themselves with their own works of art. A cork or burlap covered wall will hide nail holes and is great if you like to swap your artwork around.

Walls are a fun way to express you. Do not be afraid, let your imagination fly. Have fun exploring and coming up with new ideas. Never be afraid to dance!
