Interior Decorating with a theme in mind can inspire and assist when choosing finishes and furnishings.
Motivation is important when decorating.
- The best way is to start with an item that will provide inspiration. Perhaps you adore cows or cars. You can use these ideas as a starting point. Just be very careful that you do not go too far. Visitors will be overwhelmed with a room filled with cows and cow patterns.
Start with an item of artwork that you love or an interesting piece of furniture that you would like to make a centerpiece.
- This is a great way to begin when choosing the décor for a room. You are using your centerpiece to create a motif for the room.
- Use the colors and theme from the painting. Floral art is easy to pull colors from. Use a floral wall covering on an accent wall with your floral paintings on adjacently painted walls. Add a floral trimmed area rug. Use an abstract painting as inspiration to add a wisp of color across a plain wall. Take a vibrant color from your art work to use to upholster a sofa.
You might have a beloved collection, such as old bottles, toy cars, roosters, etc. you wish to show off.
- Make up a display case. Do not overwhelm. If you have a tremendous amount of items than swap older items with fresh ones as you dust. This will create a focal point that your visitors will always want to look at to see what is new and exciting.
- Find pillows within your theme to place on a neutral sofa.
If you like cars you can find interesting items repurposed from autos to be used for the abode’s décor.
- You could have an interesting sofa made from a car seat. Keep the rest of the room simple.
- Pull the colors from your car seat to use on the wall. Consider running a racing stripe around the room.
- Upholster chair seats with a race flag patterned fabric.
For sports fans, bats or hockey sticks can be repurposed to make an interesting chair.
