Decorating for Halloween does not necessarily mean ghosts, bats, and the living dead. Take advantage of the after Halloween sales to pick up great buys to decorate the abode for Autumn and the Thanksgiving holiday.
Purchase the half priced pumpkins and have fun creating an elegant decor!
- Instead of using a pumpkin to carve a ghoulish picture screaming Halloween, paint your pumpkins in white, silver, or black.
- Add a contrasting damask or chandelier pattern.

contrasting patterns look beautiful on pumpkins for autumn decor
- Contrasting polka dots with bows on the stems will show a fun side.
- Orange is a trendy color this year (http://www.examiner.com/interior-design-in-new-york/two-hot-accent-color-s-for-the-abode-s-d-cor) which is perfect for this season. Paint a pumpkin orange! This might sound funny but painting the pumpkin orange will give it an even, clean, appearance. Then paint pretty green ivy vines around the pumpkin.
- Adorn your pumpkin with sparkling beads trickled down from a black painted stem, for a glamorous touch.
- Paint pumpkins in silver and tie bows of black around the stems or dress with beads and pearls.
A very simple wreath can be made out of branches of berries. Read my article, http://www.examiner.com/interior-decorating-in-national/the-fall-and-winter-seasons-how-to-decorate-with-wreaths, to learn how to make your own wreaths.
Use the Black and White trend to your décor advantage (http://www.examiner.com/interior-design-in-new-york/fall-2011-decorating-trends-for-the-abode). Take a white and black room and add a touch of orange. Adorn with your fancy dressed pumpkins and you have elegance.
Use beautiful masks to adorn the wall.
Use the after Halloween sales to your decorating advantage. Invite the guests over to show off your elegant seasonal decor. Serve the mulled cider and never be afraid to dance!
