Abode Decorating Tip; Making Use of a Little Used Room

It is that time of the year again. We are moving into the colder months. Everyone is back to the mundane days of fall and, unless you live down south, you are beginning to miss spending time with friends, going to the beach, and outdoors entertaining.

The holidays are on their way and soon we will be spending time with friends and family as they fill up our abodes.

Homes are at a premium. Living in our modest homes, we have to make the best of every space in our abode.

The formal dining room usually gets very little use. The family comes and goes these days so most meals are either on the go or informally eaten in the kitchen. You now have a room that seems to be passed by as if in a museum. It is time to use your dining room and expand your abode to use to its best potential.

make use of the kitchen space for a comfy sitting area

Take the barriers away and use your dining room for everyday meals. This will free up your kitchen for a seating area to use for guests to hang out (since they end up in the kitchen anyway) or as a reading nook. Remove the table from the kitchen and replace with a settee or wicker loveseat. This will create a nice place to relax and chat with friends.

dual purpose kitchen sofa nook

If you have the kitchen space you can add a corner sofa allowing for a small dining height table in front and a couple of benches to flank it. This will give you the dual purpose of a sitting area and an informal dining area as well.

The holidays will be here soon. Enjoy and never be afraid to dance!
