Read the writing on the wall: Eco-friendly wall coverings for the abode

It is becoming increasingly evident of how important it is to become more Eco-friendly. People are inundated with a combination of crowds and technology, as well as a beautiful world. So as to not overpower the splendorous of our beaches, forests, and open spaces it is time to concentrate on using “green” alternatives.

Designers are artists striving to express their views with innovative pieces. Through innovation and imagination, designs are being produced out of recycling materials. This gives the opportunity to decorate the abode with beautiful furnishings that are also eco-friendly.

  • Weitzner Limited has many wonderful wall coverings designed to emulate many different effects and textures. As stated on the Weitzner Limited website: “Our mission is to create interior products that successfully combine luxury, beauty, innovation, environmental consciousness and performance; materials that enhance the way people live, work, rest and play.”

Lori Weitzner from Weitzner Limitedhas designed a wall covering made from recycled newspaper; Newsworthy

Newsworthy wallcovering
  • “Using an age-old technology of upcycling old newspapers, 100% real newsprint strips are handwoven on a loom and then paperbacked to make Newsworthy suitable for the wall.”

  • If you look closely you can still make out and read the print. This wall covering mimics the look of grasscloth. Due to the material the color might change when exposed to sunlight adding to its natural appearance. As with a grasscloth wall covering, Newsworthy is easily cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.

Recycled Newspapers are also used in another beautiful wall covering;

Hot Off the Press wall covering
  • Hot Off The Press “Word fragments layered into a dreamlike collage show a softer side to the press in this non-woven material composed of recycled newspapers. Salago fiber adds texture to the all-over pattern and depth where it shows through as the ground.”

A wall covering has been designed using recycled posters;

Posters made into beautiful wall covering
  • Cinema Posters “Recycled cinema posters are first collected then stripped and then woven into a riot of color hinting at the drama, romance and action of the movies they once advertised. The multi-hued strips reveal intriguing details close-up while creating an all-over texture from a distance that will enhance both residential and commercial design schemes. 70% post-consumer recycled content adds environmental awareness to the plot.”

What a perfect complement to your new NewspaperWood furniture and area rug woven from yarn made out of recycled newspaper. Add beauty to the Abode’s décor with the peace of mind that you are helping to save the environment.
