Easy Redecorating for the Abode

We live in a fast paced world. Every day we see new items displayed in windows and on TV. The magazines tease us with brand new furnishings. With the economy the way it is, it has become more difficult these days to let loose and redecorate our Abodes.

One thing to always remember is “everything old is new again”. Find ways to update the décor without spending big bucks. This can be fun, creative, and challenging. Look around your home for inspiration. Perhaps you might want to take the chair that is not used in the bedroom and place it in the living room. Swap and regroup artwork.

Chair cushions are easily reupholstered. Unscrew the chair seats. Place new fabric right over the existing. You will want to use a staple gun to staple down one side at a time and stretch the fabric so it is tightly fitted. Before you go out and purchase new fabric, see what you have around the abode. Jeans can make a great casual seat cushion. If you are buying some new fabric think about making matching window valances. Screw the chair seats back and you have a new look.

Adding new accessories can instantly change the feel of a room.

Replace throw pillows with new ones or recover your existing pillows.

Change your area rug with a new one to add new colors to the room.

Silk scarves are great for repurposing.

• A silk scarf over a lamp shade will create a new mood for the room.

• Drape a scarf over a rod for a new window valance.

• Use scarves to recover throw pillows with. Replace throw pillows with new ones or recover your existing pillows. Change your area rug with new colors.
